Who/What is Bakery Express?

Bakery Express –Mid-Atlantic Division-- produces fresh bakery items, including muffins, cakes, donuts, frozen cookies and other items for over 1200 convenient stores on the East Coast.

What were they looking for?

According to and Vice President Steve Borsh, Bakery Express had grown out of their old space and needed to construct a building on a secured piece of land. They needed this building to accommodate three different uses:  an industrial-sized bakery, office space and a café area.  Moreover, they wanted to do more than just build a building; they wanted to build a partnership.

How did Merritt help them?

Bakery Express interviewed several organizations to help them with their vision of a 200,000-square-foot, multi-use building. However, in the end, they turned to Merritt to partner with for constructing and managing the new building. Bakery Express had already been a customer of Merritt’s – they rented space to store unused equipment—so Steve knew that Merritt was dependable and professional, yet fun.

In terms of the building process, there were several permit/zoning obstacles Bakery Express, as a food manufacturer, faced. Merritt was able to leverage long-standing relationships with county representatives to help Bakery Express navigate these issues and make the process as stress-free as possible. The future for Bakery Express is bright, and Steve knows that Merritt will be with them every step of the way.
